Celebrating Our Super Heroes

Anyone who has spent any time in Bankside Fit Hub will almost certainly recognise Kara. Having joined the Hub pretty much from day one Kara has inspired a huge number of our members to achieve their fitness goals over the years. Her vigour, enthusiasm and passion to help people has made her the lynch pin of our fitness team and someone whom you know you can turn to if you ever have any questions about your fitness or workout regime.
Kara’s initial passion was for football and she was one of the original Lionesses, securing a 2 year football scholarship to take her through college. There she secured a National Diploma in Sports Science and football and sport in general still features large in her everyday life.
Having worked under some of the top coaches in her field Kara decided to go down the coaching route herself in order to inspire people from all walks of life, irrespective of fitness levels that anything is possible; it’s simply down to believing that you have the power to change. Whilst Kara has worked with a number of elite athlete’s she is most happy when she can help “ordinary” people achieve extraordinary things. That doesn’t have to be running a marathon or climbing a mountain but can be as simple as changing someone’s view on exercise. One of our members, Heidi, can testify to this first hand;
“I started coming to Bankside in 2013 having not set foot inside a gym for years. I'd been a member of several but had paid literally hundreds of pounds over the years being clueless and to only use the shower before going out! Kara quite literally changed that! After a few months trying out power plate with her I'd looked through the door at some of her classes but been too intimidated to step inside. After some gentle and enthusiastic encouragement, Kara got me to try my first Grit class and I've never looked back.
Now I'm a twice a day attendee and love it. That has been entirely down to Kara and her brilliance as an instructor. Because of her I've changed physically but also mentally. My fitness levels from the early days are now unrecognisable. I have a benign form of MS and honestly thought I couldn't withstand exercise. Kara helped me realise that just wasn't true.
Kara has an absolute knack at working out what someone's sticking point is and shows them how they can change that. She's responsible for making me see that with some effort and a little commitment fitness is achievable to absolutely anyone. She's an asset to Bankside and turns fitness from being a chore into something to look forward to and, most importantly, something fun.”
